The Joza Youth Hub Open Day 2017

We invite everybody of all ages to the 2nd Joza Youth Hub Open Day!!

On the 1st of April we are going to have an Open Day at the Joza Youth Hub. Following last years success  we want to spread the message about the work the Joza Youth Hub is doing for the whole Grahamstown community.

The aim of the Joza Youth Hub is to activate and educate local youth trough a variety of after school activities in Grahamstown in general and Joza township in particular.

The organisations that will be present are Access Music Project, Village Scribe Association, Upstart Youth Development Project, Toy library, the Joza Reading Club, Joza Chess Club, RUCE: Rhodes University Community Engagement and Communictaion Information assistance Organisation (Ciao!).

On the Open Day, the Reading Club is going to conduct spelling and chess competitions and you can win up to 500 Rand in the competitions. The Access Music Project learners are going to perform their music. The VSA will introduce their idea of computer training in the computer lab. The winner group of last years Peace and Music project is also going to  perform and present their hip hop song. The mic will be open for other people to perform too.

Also you can come and use our computer lab. In cooperation with the Rhodes Journalism Department we are going to launch the hub openings every Saturday for the whole community to benefit from the free access to information.

Also there is going to be a lot of fun stuff like food stalls, face painting…

One highlight will be opening the Joza Traffic Training Centre for the community. The center is located right next to the Joza Youth Hub and behind the Nduna library. It is a place for children to learn and practice road safety.

We hope to see you on the 1st of april!
