awarenet in Alexandria (Eastern Cape)

Our newest school joined the awarenet network last week: Alexandria High School in Alexandria in the rural Eastern Cape. This is a very exciting new development as we have installed an awarenet server at the school, which will be remotely managed. We can load content from the Internet, following requests from teachers and more. If this pilot will work out successfully, we will be ready to take on more rural schools.

The learners have received their first training from Terri-Lynn Penney and Richard Strickland and loved the new tool in the lab. They were especially involved and eager to get going with using awarenet for their projects and learning that they had previously organised a fundraiser cake sale. Profits went to the VSA to contribute to the maintenance of the service and peering of instances of awarenet.

We would like to thank Mr Aldy Meyer and the whole school wholeheartedly for their engagement and interest in childrens’ education and community development. We are looking forward to work together with you!
