Awarenet staff and volunteer tutors attended a three day training in Cape Town hosted by OLICO and The Learning Trust. The training was based on running a Maths programme for grade 8s and 9s using the OLICO website.
Awarenet will be collaborating with Inkululeko on this project. We will be recruiting learners together as well as sharing resources. The plan is to involve all the six local high schools which are Nombulelo, TEM Mrwetyana, Ntsika, Kuthliso Daniels, Nathaniel Nyaluza and Mary Waters. Both organisations have already established relationships with the schools from the core programmes that they run.
The OLICO website is user-friendly and very interactive. It is designed to give our learners the key concepts that build the foundation for successful grade 10, 11 and 12 results. The programme is set to commence on the 1st of February 2022. Learners will attend the maths training twice a week from 15:00 till 17:00.
