End of the third round of the Social Employment Fund!

Last week, Awarenet held a meeting with all the current Social Employment Fund participants in the Common Room of the Joza Youth Hub regarding the end of the third round of the Social Employment Fund.
Firstly, we asked each of the participants to fill out a feedback form reflecting on their personal time being in the SEF programme. After that, all of us enjoyed coffeee, tea and food before Awarenet director Kjetil Torp and our Trustee and Chairperson Rod Amner held speeches looking back at the almost three years Awarenet has been part of the Social Employment Fund programme. Lastly, Awarenet gave each participant a Certificate of Service documenting their work for future job applications.

In these almost three years in which Awarenet has been part of the SEF programme, our participants have worked in a large spectrum of different part-time job opportunities in which they could apply their skills and learn a lot themselves. The jobs we offered mostly included educational work with children and learners. Our participants could choose between various different job opportunities such as being a mathematics or robotics tutor, functioning as a SD card project coordinator or doing administrative work in our open labs or in the school computer labs just to name a few examples.

In short the Social Employment Fund programme has lead to an infusion of energy into the non-profit sector in Makhanda which is why we at Awarenet are truly grateful for having had this unique opportunity.

We want to thank all of the participants for their honorable work for the community and we wish them all the best for the future. We also want to sincerely thank The Learning Trust for having made all this possible. Thank you!
