The new volunteers, Julia and Lukas along with their SAGE Net. fellows, have completed their introductory seminar. Traditionally, all Weltwaerts volunteers have to attend a 10 day seminar to learn about the culture, heritage, people and challenges in their host country as well as about general issues such as appropriate behaviour, security and media use.
I have joined the workshop for 24h hours to introduce our project, screen the new movie about the current volunteers, answer specific questions by the new volunteers and casually chat to them outside the SAGE Net. programme. I was impressed again how well prepared the SAGE Net. team is, how thoughtful the seminar was and how motivated and polite the future volunteers were. I am sure that this will be another fantastic group entering their adventure into beautiful South Africa!
