All the songs of the awarenet Peace Project 2013 are recorded and the CDs are produced. Congratulations!
The CD was released on the first day of the Grahamstown Arts Festival 2014, on Thursday, the 3rd of July 2014 during a small celebration party for all people involved and our partners, supporters and friends. The event will took place in the Joza Youth Hub (Cnr Ncame and Sani Street in Grahamstown) from 10am – 11:30am.
Agenda:
- Welcome address by Corinne Cooper (co-organiser of the project, RU Dep. of Music and Musicology, Sonic Art Studio)
- Rap performance by Zukani Budaza (HipHop trainer of the project, Sonic Art Studio)
- Hand over of the CDs to the awarenet learners (Ntaba Maria SS, CM Vellem HPS, Good Shepherd PS, Mary Waters HS, Nathaniel Nyaluza PSS)
During the event, pictures of the projects, parts of the awarenet Peace Day Concert and the music video of the winner, Ntaba Maria SS, were screened. Cool drinks and snacks were served.
The Upstart group joined the event and were quite impressed by the songs and the music video. Zukani Budaza, the HipHop trainer, told them more about the Peace Project and what it all entitled. The Upstart learners then decided that they would like to partake in the coming Peace Project as a 5th group. The training for the new Peace Project will resume the first week of term.
